How can I change the color of the links (of articles and menus) from orange to another color? I tried to change the css files but it didn't work

You can change this in the template manager page. You'll find that somethings fun there!
In administrator section, navigate to Extension -> Template Manager, then click to template named ot_boutiquebox to edit. In the parameters area, you can change color of many things.
There are 3 preset style (color style) included: "brown", "blue", "gray" -> so you can choose one; It also lets you choose custom font or color for body text color (articles), headings, etc.
When you choose one style, eg: "brown", then the style will be applied by "/templates/ot_boutiquebox/css/layout/brown.css" => then if you want to change anything hardcode, please change values in this file.
Other styles the same.
